WoW Forever Beta Ends: What Changed and What Comes Next

The five-week WoW: Forever beta has closed. The latest confirmed milestones are the October 15 developer notes, October 21 public stress test, October 23 beta closure, and the upcoming character-name reservation window.

Status checked October 25, 2026. Blizzard announced on October 23 that the WoW: Forever beta had ended after five weeks of testing. The team said it would focus on high-priority issues and server preparation ahead of launch. This is a status recap, not an announcement of a new balance patch.

Latest detailed gameplay notes: October 15

The most recent full developer-notes post we found in this period was updated October 15. It included class tuning and bug fixes across multiple classes and systems. Examples included changes to Druid spell damage and healing critical-strike behavior, Mage spell durations and Ignite behavior, Paladin abilities and talents, Shaman spell ranks and totem rules, and Warrior talent/cooldown tuning. The notes also covered quest and item fixes, casting animations, pet happiness, Campfire behavior, a memory leak, and Mac graphics issues.

These notes should be read as a dated beta snapshot. They do not guarantee that every value will remain unchanged at launch.

October 21: public stress test

Blizzard opened a limited public stress test to help evaluate the game’s launch infrastructure. The announcement said participants did not need an active subscription or game time, an invitation, or existing beta access for the stress-test window. A stress test is primarily an infrastructure exercise; it should not be mistaken for a separate content release.

October 23: beta closed

Blizzard thanked testers and confirmed the beta had ended. The next stated focus was addressing high-priority issues and preparing servers. As of October 25, we have not found a newer full official class-tuning changelog after the October 15 notes.

What comes next

For players, the useful next step is to settle on a preferred character name and alternatives, confirm account/edition eligibility from Blizzard’s own pages, and avoid treating beta builds, character progress, or economy observations as guaranteed launch conditions.
